At Defib Hawaii, we are hawaii’s trusted CPR and AED training providers with a personal mission to save lives. Our instructors combine decades of real-world healthcare experience from emergency rooms, ICUs, and flight nursing with a passion for making learning enjoyable and effective.

Syrina Rostash

Founder & COO / Training Site Coordinator

Syrina Rostash brings over 20 years of medical field experience and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from Grand Canyon University. She started her healthcare journey as a firefighter and paramedic before becoming an ICU nurse, ER nurse, and flight nurse. She grew up in Laie, Hawaii, but left the state after high school to build her medical career on the mainland before returning to raise her children and give back to her island community.

The decision to open Defib Hawaii came from a heartbreaking moment that changed Syrina’s life forever. When her brother faced a sudden heart attack at age 50 and died, no one around him knew how to perform CPR or use an AED. This tragedy sparked her mission, and since 2017, she has dedicated herself to teaching Hawaiian communities these critical life-saving skills so no other family has to face what hers did.

Mark Rostash

Co-founder / AED Sales

Mark Rostash works as the Lead CPR Instructor in Defib Hawaii. His healthcare journey began as an exercise physiologist, but his passion for patient care led him to dive into emergency medicine, trauma units, ICU work, and flight nursing. Mark’s extensive clinical background gives him real-world experience with the life-saving techniques he teaches every day.

What makes Mark special is his natural gift for teaching complex medical concepts in simple, easy-to-understand ways. He believes learning CPR and AED skills should be fun and stress-free, whether you’re a seasoned doctor, nursing student, or community member getting certified for the first time. Mark joined Syrina’s mission because he knows that when people enjoy learning, they remember the skills better.
