About Defib Hawaii
Defib Hawaii was founded from a place of deep personal loss and an even deeper commitment to community. After losing her brother to a heart attack—while bystanders stood by, unsure of what to do—Syrina Rostash was driven to make a difference. Since 2017, she’s been teaching CPR, AED, and first aid classes across Hawaii, empowering others to act with confidence in moments that matter most.
In 2023, Syrina and her husband Mark officially launched Defib Hawaii as a fully operational CPR training center. What began as a passion project has quickly grown into a trusted, island-wide resource for AHA CPR certification, BLS for healthcare providers, ACLS training, and continuing education. We’ve since added seven instructors and two administrators, each with diverse clinical backgrounds—including paramedics, nurses, nurse practitioners, and former lifeguards—serving Honolulu and the outer islands.
Our courses are interactive and non-judgmental, complete with realistic simulation equipment—and yes, snacks and good vibes are always provided.
